You Have to Risk Changing....

Sometimes you just have to make a change. Yesterday I got a haircut... not a trim but a whole new style. I have really kept the same cut for several years now and it was time for something new. I think a lot of us tend to stay stuck looking the same because it is comfortable. We know how to get up in the morning and get ready. Who needs to rock the boat?

Well comfortable can get downright boring and comfortable can make us complacent about moving forward in life. So today I have to ask you are you too comfortable with the life you have created for yourself? Are you stuck in one spot because it is less bother than working towards new goals and dreams? Don't become a victim of the familiar.

By staying in our comfort zone we are missing out on new experiences and new possibilities. We are surviving but really not living life to it's fullest. Defining your dreams and planning the route to achieve them won't get you anywhere unless you are willing to step out of that comfortable place you have created for yourself.

On Thursdays I make a point of stating my thankfulness. I am thankful today that I am willing to risk change. My wish for you is that you shake things up and risk change too... it is the way to your dreams.

The Word Of The Day - FOCUS

If you don't know where you are going how will you ever get there? It is important for each of us to take the time to produce a set of personal and professional dreams. Think about where you would like to see yourself in a month, a year, and beyond.

Sometimes you may find yourself just floating along, doing "busy work" day in and day out. It might be that you have been too overwhelmed with life for a while. You may have been dealing with a personal crisis that put you on auto pilot or you just got stuck looking down at the grind stone and forgot to DREAM.

Personally, I think the past week or so has found me in a little bit of a personal and business rut. Today I am going to spend some time renewing my focus so that I can move forward in all areas of my life. So who want's to join me?

I have been challenged by my Mary Kay Director to list 10 personal and business dreams today. I woke up with this assignment on my mind and feel it is probably the most important thing I need to do today. So I am off now to work on the list. Yes All in All - It's A Wonderful World!

All in all it is a wonderful world. A friend posted a link to an all time favorite feel good song this morning, It's a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and I smiled as I listened to it.

There are so many distractions and duties we are all forced to do that sometimes we forget just how wonderful life is. There will be bad times for sure but those times teach us lessons and help us appreciate the good times all the more. I know these trials might not seem that way at the time but they are more valuable in our journey than the easy breezy times.

I hope this day that you are in a good and happy place but if you are not I hope that you will take a step today to change the course of your life. I have used the Serenity Prayer to get me through and help me focus on the things I must do rather than wallow in what I can not do. When times get tough I hope you will find strength in these words as well...."God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference." - Reinhold Niebuhr

So take control of the only thing you have true control over, your own actions. Think positively and you will make it through. It truly is a wonderful world and I appreciate the gift of each new day. The universe is not out to get us and often throws us a lifesaver when we are feeling pulled under... It is up to us to grab hold and see with clearer eyes the beauty and magnificence of it all.

Do You Wish You Could Change?

The changing leaves got me thinking about changes we wish we could make. Many people wish they could change. They are dissatisfied with the way they look. They are dissatisfied with the way they feel. They are dissatisfied with their bank accounts. Let's face it many people go through day after day unhappy because of things they believe they are not able to change. WELL Cut That Out! Make the choice for change today.

If you are unhappy with your look start taking better care of yourself. Eat right. Exercise. Dress well even if you have nowhere to go. Of course I recommend establishing a great skin care routine to start and end each day. I use the Mary Kay Miracle Set and the Mary Kay Microdermabrasion Set myself. Looking in the mirror at a fresh clean face and seeing the dramatic improvements over time will improve your attitude!

If you are unhappy with the way you feel find some positive people to be around. I find that meeting with my positive friends on facebook every morning and talking with positive people during the day helps me immensely. The last thing you need when trying to feel better is a bunch of negative input. Part of my "positive posse" are my Mary Kay Team and Unit. We have fun and encourage each other on to success.

If you are unhappy with your bank account then go out and do something about it. Start paying down debt, just an extra few dollars a month will help as you see balances decrease. Find an extra stream of income or a new career. I know the economy is rough but some industries are thriving. I can help you with that too. Are You Looking For Something To Be Thankful For?

Every Thursday I make a conscious effort to state a few things I am thankful for. It started from some posts on another blogging platform and I continue the tradition on Facebook and in my life in the real world too. It is easy to be rushing through the day to day tasks and get so bogged down in the routine and any difficulties we may be facing that we forget all the wonderful gifts we are presented with every day.

Every day that we are alive is a gift. Yes even the rough ones will teach us something useful and if you look hard you will find things to be thankful for even on the most tragic of days. Sometimes, I will admit, the gifts are only apparent in retrospect but they are always there if you take the time to look.

So today it is raining and I am thankful for the rain which is filling up reservoirs and raising the water tables so our wells won't go dry. I am thankful for the roof over my head. I am even thankful that I am forced to go out in the rain today or I actually might pull the covers over my head, I love to sleep with the rain hitting the roof. But I have work to do today and on with my mission I will go.

It is a last day of the month. I have a few more orders to take to put me over the top on my goal to go on target for my Mary Kay Career Car. I am so thankful to be so close to this goal. I am thankful that I found a great company that rewards my efforts and praises me to success. I have never been in a business environment like this before and I am thankful for the training I received during my years of volunteer as a parenting and breastfeeding councilor with La Leche League. Those skills are a good match for the philosophy of Mary Kay. The Golden Rule and helping others to succeed are the mainstays of the Mary Kay culture.

Well I am off to find more things to be thankful for. New friends, old friends, family, and more. I am thankful for it all! I don't have time to take care of myself.

The Magic of Your Smile

Did you ever notice how you can get a baby to smile just by smiling at them? It always amazes me that an infant will receive a happy face and reflect joy in their own face. Well guess what, most people continue to receive smiles the same way throughout their lives. When someone shares a smile with you don't you feel a little bubble of happiness float through whatever else is going on in your mind that moment?

I love to smile at people. I feel a rush when they acknowledge my effort to brighten their day. It is good for both of us. With the advent of social media I can share smiles with so many other people. I know that they give me joy and I return the favor. You should give it a try.

Many of us are so wrapped up in our own troubles that we forget to smile. We forget to share the good things as well as the bad. Don't be a constant complainer find something good to share every if it is only one of these :) once in a while. Believe me your world will be brighter for it and so will the people who you come in contact with.

You Have A Gift... Another Day To Make A Difference

As I look back over my life I see the times when I felt lost and alone. The times when I let me insecurity rule and felt the most vulnerable. The times when I let other's opinions of me form my opinion of myself. I know the feeling of waking up to find another day of pain and doubt. I also know that you can find your inner beauty and confidence by putting enough value on yourself to actually invest time and effort into taking care of yourself.

When you open yours eyes to another day, take the time to be thankful that you have the day. Take the time as you prepare for your busy day to take care of your skin and think about how you are dressing yourself for what ever you plan to do. When you look sharp you feel better about you. You hold your shoulders a little straighter and stand a little taller. Don't underestimate the power that taking care of yourself gives you.

I know many of you may think... All I am doing today is my regular work so why should I bother with this. Well for you... so you can be the best at whatever you do and for others around you... so you can be prepared to spread joy to another person.

I Am One Of The Lucky Ones Who Woke Up With A Smile Today

I am so lucky to be where I am today. I truly wake up and smile every morning knowing how exciting my day will be. That is because I have chosen a new career as an independent business women. It is with a company that believes all women can make a difference in their lives. That company is Mary Kay!

I have been speaking to women over the past few months about hopes and dreams. It seems that many of us have forgotten how to dream. What is it that we are looking forward to? Why do we keep on keepin' on? Many of the women I speak with are unhappy because they feel trapped by circumstances that they honestly believe are beyond their control. While it is true that we can be stuck in some seriously difficult situations, we do have the ability to change one thing and that is our own attitude. When we start to dream and to believe in ourselves we begin to get stronger. When we see that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel we can great the day with a smile.

So what are you going to do today to allow yourself to dream? I began my day by looking over the choices I have for a prize from the Mary Kay Quarterly STAR contest. Wow what fun! I get to pick a present as a reward for doing well this quarter. I never have worked with a company that gave me the opportunity to win wonderful prizes every quarter just for working my business.

Next I am going to call up some old friends and some new acquaintances and offer them a FREE facial and tell them about all the exciting new products that Mary Kay is offering for Fall and the Holidays. Some fun and some girl talk that will result in making these women feel good and may just make me some money at the same time.

I will also be preparing for some skin care classes I have scheduled for later in the week. What a pleasure it is for me to watch as women who have never experienced Mary Kay products start to get excited when they see the results from just one use.

I also will have a few conversations or send a few notes to my amazing team of consultants. I can help these wonderful women further their dreams by being here for them and by leading them to the next level in their own businesses. What a great company that encourages me to help other consultants rather than step on them on the way to the top.

Finally I will be sharing the opportunity with women who are looking for something more in their lives. They may be out of work due to downsizing or "lack of experience". They might be stay at home moms who need some adult contact during the day. They could be women dissatisfied with what they are currently doing but can't afford to leave the job. They may just want to have some fun and earn a little more cash for themselves. These are the women who I can give smile and some hope to. Talking to them is the most satisfying part of my day because these are the women who may be ready for the biggest change and are ready to start dreaming of a better future.

Did You Stop Dreaming?

I am Dreaming again. Yes as we get older and life starts to take it's toll we might forget how to Dream. Well Mary Kay has opened my world to Dreaming and I am so grateful for it.

I have always tried to look at the bright side although there are times along my journey that I can look back to see darkness was able to take over. One of the keys to being positive and thereby attracting positive things to you is accepting that sometimes bad things happen but we can look forward to better things through our dreams.

One of the keys to dreaming in a positive way is to act on those dreams by taking little steps each day toward that big goal. I am now working towards several dreams by setting goals each day, each week, each month, and each year. You can do it too!

Find a place where there are positive forces around you. I found that place in my Mary Kay Unit. What a wonderful, positive, supportive environment to learn and grow in. The tools to succeed are all there and the encouragement to continue on towards goals is so evident there.

Just Who Do You Think You Are????
