Every Thursday I make a conscious effort to state a few things I am thankful for. It started from some posts on another blogging platform and I continue the tradition on Facebook and in my life in the real world too. It is easy to be rushing through the day to day tasks and get so bogged down in the routine and any difficulties we may be facing that we forget all the wonderful gifts we are presented with every day.
Every day that we are alive is a gift. Yes even the rough ones will teach us something useful and if you look hard you will find things to be thankful for even on the most tragic of days. Sometimes, I will admit, the gifts are only apparent in retrospect but they are always there if you take the time to look.
So today it is raining and I am thankful for the rain which is filling up reservoirs and raising the water tables so our wells won't go dry. I am thankful for the roof over my head. I am even thankful that I am forced to go out in the rain today or I actually might pull the covers over my head, I love to sleep with the rain hitting the roof. But I have work to do today and on with my mission I will go.
It is a last day of the month. I have a few more orders to take to put me over the top on my goal to go on target for my Mary Kay Career Car. I am so thankful to be so close to this goal. I am thankful that I found a great company that rewards my efforts and praises me to success. I have never been in a business environment like this before and I am thankful for the training I received during my years of volunteer as a parenting and breastfeeding councilor with La Leche League. Those skills are a good match for the philosophy of Mary Kay. The Golden Rule and helping others to succeed are the mainstays of the Mary Kay culture.
Well I am off to find more things to be thankful for. New friends, old friends, family, and more. I am thankful for it all! We each determine our own future. Opportunities to succeed are placed in front of us every day and we can choose to embrace them or we can let them pass by without taking the chance. It is easy to stick to the routine. Avoiding risk is safe but it is sort of like refusing to step outside your front door for fear that something bad will happen. You may stay safe inside your home but then again something could happen there to hurt you too and you would have missed out on so much life by staying inside.
Just for today.... take a moment to meditate on your future. Where do you see yourself in a week, in a month, in a year.... You can remain static and most likely safe or you can grab hold of the opportunities in front of you and grow. Each new experience helps to bring us to a higher state of existence. Sure sometimes you fail but even in failure there is knowledge and then you can go on to the next opportunity armed with more information.
I hope your future is rosy and you find a way to take those risks. Break away from the comfortable routine and try it. It is the only way to grow!

I admit it...I am guilty of letting opportunity slip by. Well I am back from a wonderful retreat with new enthusiasm and some great new tools to help me in my business and I will no longer allow myself to be distracted from my goals.
We often waste the very time that we could be using to solve a problem by worrying about how we will solve it. We allow ourselves to make excuses for why things are not happening and as someone stated this weekend "an excuse is a lie that only we believe." Well no more wasted time on worry and no more excuses. I am ready to move.
Today I will do what I need to do for my business. I will avoid the things that distract me from my goals. I am on a mission. Watch me and be amazed!

I admit it. I don't always wake up with enthusiasm for the day. Each morning I post a status on Facebook and I try to make it positive, most days it is easy. I am happy and it flows through my fingers to the keyboard. But there are days when I have faced a disappointment the day before or had a bad night's sleep that I struggle. Today was one of those days. I must have started my status 10 times or more always ending up in a less than desirable spot that required DELETE. As I struggled and deleted the discomfort faded and eventually I was able to look forward.
I finally managed to get something more pleasant out there and it paid off because I found out that my lovely hostess from a Mary Kay party last weekend has some orders for me! So now my mood is much more positive and I am excited to face the rest of the day. I put out positive instead of the uncomfortable negative I felt and was rewarded.
I am by nature a "cup is half full" type of gal but when I am not feeling it, I dig deep down inside and add some more to the cup. If you are feeling like life is a constant struggle and you just can't get ahead try finding one little ounce of joy and put it out there. You will be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Ok so maybe I am dreaming but wouldn't it be nice to stay out of the malls and the holiday shopping madness this year? Did you ever notice how you can get a baby to smile just by smiling at them? It always amazes me that an infant will receive a happy face and reflect joy in their own face. Well guess what, most people continue to receive smiles the same way throughout their lives. When someone shares a smile with you don't you feel a little bubble of happiness float through whatever else is going on in your mind that moment?
I love to smile at people. I feel a rush when they acknowledge my effort to brighten their day. It is good for both of us. With the advent of social media I can share smiles with so many other people. I know that they give me joy and I return the favor. You should give it a try.

Set it up to provide you with the local weather and a countdown to an important upcoming event. I set mine to Christmas but options include your wedding, anniversary, birthday, or any other future happening.
You can find out specific skin care recommendations by using the Skin Care Analysis. This quick quiz will provide you with the right Mary Kay skin care options for you based on age, lifestyle, and specific concerns you may have. As I look back over my life I see the times when I felt lost and alone. The times when I let me insecurity rule and felt the most vulnerable. The times when I let other's opinions of me form my opinion of myself. I know the feeling of waking up to find another day of pain and doubt. I also know that you can find your inner beauty and confidence by putting enough value on yourself to actually invest time and effort into taking care of yourself.
When you open yours eyes to another day, take the time to be thankful that you have the day. Take the time as you prepare for your busy day to take care of your skin and think about how you are dressing yourself for what ever you plan to do. When you look sharp you feel better about you. You hold your shoulders a little straighter and stand a little taller. Don't underestimate the power that taking care of yourself gives you.

If you are wishing your life were different there is really only one way to make it so. You need to make a decision and then act on it. Change you and your world will change. Oh it may not be a huge earth shattering change but you will feel different.
It will start with a tiny spark and grow as long as you keep feeding it. A decision to take care of your self is one vital step. I am so lucky to be where I am today. I truly wake up and smile every morning knowing how exciting my day will be. That is because I have chosen a new career as an independent business women. I have been speaking to women over the past few months about hopes and dreams. It seems that many of us have forgotten how to dream. What is it that we are looking forward to? Why do we keep on keepin' on? Many of the women I speak with are unhappy because they feel trapped by circumstances that they honestly believe are beyond their control. While it is true that we can be stuck in some seriously difficult situations, we do have the ability to change one thing and that is our own attitude. I can help these wonderful women further their dreams by being here for them and by leading them to the next level in their own businesses.
